Using the RSS feature, you can schedule your email campaigns and choose to send multiple emails daily, weekly, and monthly. In this post, we shall take you on a one-on-one guide on how to automate RSS newsletters using Brevo.
What is RSS?
Before jumping into the steps, let’s first understand the meaning of RSS and what it does.
RSS ( Rich Site Summary) is an online web feed that sends subscribers notifications about the latest blog post and the news shared on different websites. RSS consists of files known as XML, which the computer can easily interpret.
Application of RSS in email integration
Email integration RSS automatically sends subscribers daily, weekly, or monthly notifications. The email integrations allow you to add diverse fields to your posts for subscribers to follow through easier.
Importance of RSS to Email Integration
For the success of any online business, email marketing is ideal. With RSS to email integration, there are several upsides that website owners can enjoy. For instance, users will always get notifications when new content is out. They will also have an easy time accessing your site and won’t have to remember the site’s name every time they want to visit it. At the same time, your website visitors can recommend the website to their friends, increasing your audience. Finally, RSS to Email automation keeps traffic flowing continuously to your site while saving you time and resources.
Before we begin
First, you need the URL for your RSS feed. If you add content from several feeds, you can use a feed aggregator like RSSUnify or even RSS Mix to add several feeds to one feed. To ensure the blog post is included in the RSS campaign, you have to publish them one hour before an RSS campaign is sent. Also, you need an RSS-compatible template suitable for your RSS campaign design. If it’s your first time using the RSS Feeds, then you should use the Brevo RSS default template rather than creating a new one.
Steps on How to Automate RSS Newsletter using Brevo
You need to log into your Brevo account; if you don’t have one, you can create one to access the dashboard. Inside the dashboard, you will find features you can explore, for instance, Templates, statistics, email campaigns, and automation options.
Next, click the plus sign”+” at the top left corner. Then move to the integration tab here, and you will find different options, including the RSS Campaign option.
Click on the “RSS Campaign” and give a name to the integration.
This means that if a new user signs in to your website for the first time, you can come up with an integration name, like a Welcome email, or if you are going for the weekly updates, you can save it as “This week’s blog posts.” After completing the name, click on the “Create Integration Button.”
In this step, you will configure your RSS feed by inserting an RSS feed link. You must paste the RSS feed URL to the configuration window, then click “Load RSS feed”. Note that a preview of the RSS feed will appear to help you clarify the data. After this, click “Continue.”
If you are used to designing your email, you can do it freely in this step, but if you are a newbie, you should opt for the Brevo default templates. However, designing is simple and easy with drag-and-drop features.
If you choose to go for different templates, the template, the email window, will be highly effective in this step. When you are done, click the “Confirm Email template” to select the given model.
In this step, you will set up the campaign details; this includes the campaign name and many others. You also make your information dynamic by exploring tags like (feed.PUBDATE).
After setting up the newsletter template, and it’s ready to send out, select a list of recipients. Here you have to choose a list from the drop-down depending on the type of email you are sending out. Then click “Continue.”
Note: Ensure you test the RSS campaign integration before sending it to your recipients.
For weekly campaigns, you must select a specific day and time of the week or month. You can vary the setting and observe the different statistics on your dashboard. Also, you have the choice to send the newsletters automatically or manually.
After following through with the previous steps, remember to save and activate the RSS campaign. You can view your campaign reports anytime from the Campaigns > Email Section.
Starting with a free account is the best way to experiment with the RSS features in Brevo. Once you are satisfied with the results, you can settle for the $25 monthly subscription that offers 40,000 emails per month or a more significant offer for a broader audience.
